By Bazio Doreen.
The 2nd Deputy Prime Minister and Member of Parliament, Adjumani West, Rt Hon. Gen. Moses Ali, has launched the District Local Action Plan I on Women’s Peace and Security (2025-2030). The launch was done during the district celebrations for International Women’s Day in Dzaipi Sub County on 8th March 2025, where the Women MP, Adjumani, and Adjumani East MP were in attendance.
The LAP was drafted in line with the National Action Plan I on Women’s Peace and Security (2021–2025) with technical support from the Ministry of Gender, Labor, and Social Development and financial support from the Women’s International Peace Centre. The LAP is premised on the overall goal of “a transformed, peaceful, and sustainable community.”
This goal will be achieved through four specific objectives: to reduce all forms of conflicts and violence from 33% to 23%; to reduce poverty from 38% to 28% at all levels; to reduce GBV from 27% to 17% at all levels; and to improve governance and service delivery from 71% to 95%. The objectives will be implemented through 16 strategic interventions and 70 key activities.
The LAP has a total budget of Uganda shillings nineteen billion seven hundred eighty-five million shillings (19,785,000,000/=) for the five years. It will be financed through existing and available resources from within the district budget, private sector, and development partners. The district has committed in kind up to a tune of one hundred two million shillings only (102,000,000/=), leaving a balance of Uganda shillings nineteen billion six hundred eighty-three million shillings (19,683,000,000/=) as unfunded.
All the district leaders present at the launch appended their signatures as a sign of commitment that they shall walk this five-year journey together with the district and its partners as allies of a transformed, peaceful, and sustainable community.
END.
