By Bazio Doreen.
On 18th July 2024, we hosted a delegation from Soroti District Local Government who escorted the new CAO, Ocen James Andrew following the transfer of CAO Oryono Grandfield Omonda to Butaleja District.
While receiving office at Adjumani District headquarters in the presence of the District Chairperson, Hon, Anyama Ben, CAO Ocen thanked the almighty for the opportunity he had been given before he committed to do his very best to maintain and improve the milestones achieved by his predecessor. CAO Ocen however said this shall only be possible if the people of Adjumani lend him a listening ear and cooperate with him.
On the other hand, CAO Oryono appreciated the people of Adjumani for allowing him to serve them before listing several challenges that await his successor. The challenges that await CAO Ocen include: revamping Olia Farm Institute, expansion of Presidential Industrial Hub, completion of Amelo Technical Institute, land conflicts, court cases, new LLGs that are not funded, briefcase NGOs, prevalent illegal charcoal trade, and no armed guards at the district gate.
On his part, Hon. Anyama promised the new CAO protection adding that he will not allow anyone to intimidate him as long as he is improving service delivery. He also urged him to work with all other key leaders to maintain the stability of the district.
While welcoming the new CAO, the Resident District Commissioner – Adjumani, Mr. Taban Peter Data, commended the former CAO and tasked the new CAO to be honest and transparent through prompt communication and effective coordination.
